ADAIRSVILLE, GA – A light schedule of three Saturday night races make up the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 24 schedule of events for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is closing in on a 700 point Perfect Season represented by 14 50-point wins with six weeks left in the 2019 season.

Saturday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 24 races are scheduled for Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Mitchell is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point leader with a best 14-week total of 697 points, just three points away from a Perfect Season. Mitchell will try to net on a 48, which means he has to finish first or second in Week 24 competition to gain any points on his season total.

Just six points separate second through fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings going into Week 24 action. Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL is second with a best 14-week total of 672 points. Wallace will try to net on a 48. Donavan Henry of Muscle Shoals, AL is third with a best 14-week total of 669 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41.

Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points, and he will be trying to net on a 44. Doodle Lowe of Warrior, Al rounds out the top five of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 666 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41.

A driver to watch in Week 24 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division action is Ryan King of Anniston, AL. King is currently 13th in the National standings with 627 points, and he still has one more week to earn full points. A 50-point Week 24 win puts King right in the battle for the second spot in the points chase.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
