ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL drove the Morgan Machine Special to his 12th win of the 2019 season on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL. Riddle was able to net on a 49, gain one point, and bring his 14-week total to 695 points in the Week 24 race.

With five weeks left in the 29-week season, and one more week for a Make-Up Feature possibility, Riddle needs five 50-point wins to reach the 700 point mark. Riddle still has a major challenge this season from the defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN.

Gillespie is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 691 points. Gillespie finished eighth on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway and failed to net on a 48. Gillespie still has a window of opportunity to win his second straight title, but it is beginning to close.

Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 652 points. Terrell finished fourth on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway to net on a 40. Blake Cross of Centerville, TN is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman standings with 648 points. Cross finished third at Moulton Speedway on Saturday night to net on a 39.

Chuckie Gipson of Tuscumbia, AL rounds out the top five in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings after Week 24 action with a best 14-week total of 647 points. Gipson finished ninth on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway and failed to net on a 43.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division Week 24 action, Dakota Berry of Huntingdon, TN drove the 22 Auto Salvage Special to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Michael Blakeney took his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Blakeney Racing Special.
