ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The battle for the $10,000 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division 2019 National Championship rolls into Week 26 with six races on the schedule of events that include a Double Feature Race. This weekend is the last one for Double Features, so the title chase will come into focus for the remaining three weeks of the season.

The Double Features will take place this Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. The first feature race will be a Week 11 Make-Up Race, and the second Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Race will be the regularly scheduled Week 26 Race.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 26 races on Saturday night will also be held at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader. The General has a best 14-week total of 697 points, and he will be trying to net on a 49. Lee won the Double Features last Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is second in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 688 points. Russell will be trying to net on a 47.

Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is third in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 687 points. Mitchell will be trying to net on a 46. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is fourth with a best 14-week total of 686 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47. Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the top five of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy, with the National Champion pocketing $10,000.
