Fall Nationals Series Preps for Showdown at Senoia Featuring the Billy Clanton Classic on September 28

BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA (September 21, 2019)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series by Sunoco Race Fuels will get back to action on Saturday September 28 at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Ga. as the tour rolls in to sanction the Billy Clanton Classic during the Fourth Annual Showdown at Senoia paying $10,025 to the event winner.

After four Fall Nationals Series events, Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. leads the point standings by 34 markers over David Payne of Murphy, N.C. Winners on the tour this season have includes Tommy Kerry at Smoky Mountain Speedway, Donald McIntosh at North Georgia Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway Park and Dakotah Knuckles at Tazewell Speedway.

At Senoia Raceway on September 28, the Fall Nationals Late Models will be in action racing for $10,025-to-win and $500-to-start. In addition to the Super Late Models, the Crate Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby, Bomber, Chargers and Hot Shot divisions will all be in action. The pit gates open at Noon on September 28 followed by the grandstand gates opening at 4:00 pm, the drivers meeting scheduled for 5:30 pm and on track activities begin around 6:30 pm. Adult general admission is $25.00 per person while adult pit passes are $40.00 per person.

On Thursday September 26, the track will have an open practice session for all divisions and on Friday September 27, in addition to the track’s support classes racing, the Super Late Models will have the opportunity to make some practice laps throughout the night.

Former winners of the Showdown at Senoia include Shane Clanton in 2016 when he took the $10,000 payday over Michael Page, Brandon Overton, Chase Junghans and Jimmy Owens. In 2017 the event was rained out. In 2018, a pair of events during the Showdown saw Shane Clanton capture the payday on the opening night over Ashton Winger and Michael Page. On Saturday’s finale, Tyler Erb took the big payday over Michael Page and Casey Roberts. Former winners of the Billy Clanton Classic include Billy’s son Shane who won the inaugural event in 2015 and 2016 followed by Brandon Sheppard in 2017 and Chris Madden in 2018.

The tire rule for the Fall Nationals Super Late Models will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600; American Racer 48 and 56. The 29.0 size tires will NOT be allowed on the left rear of the race cars. The series Droop Rule WILL be in effect at all series events. The entry fee is $100 and any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $75 tow money. Random tire samples will be taken by the series.
