ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The 2019 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship is still to be decided going into the 29th and final Week of the season. With point leader Mike Lane of Wing, AL still serving a suspension, the title is in the hands of the second-place driver Jason Baker of Addison, AL.

Going into last weekend’s Week 28 of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division season, Wing had a two point lead on Baker. For Baker to win the title, he had to win out in each of the two remaining weeks with a pair of 50-point victories. After Week 28, Baker is halfway there.

Baker traveled to Camden Speedway in Camden, TN on Saturday night where he drove the Carden Construction Special to a 50-point win to net on a 49. Lane has a best 14-week total of 698 points, and now Baker has a best 14-week total of 697.

In order for Baker to win the 2019 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship, he has to score a 50-point win in Week 29 and net on a 49. That would tie Lane and Baker with a best 14-week total of 698 points, and the tie-breaker of most 50-wins would come into play. A Week 29 50-point win for Baker would give him 13 50-point wins to 12 50-points wins for Lane.

Hayden Moran of Covington, LA clinched the third spot in 2019 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings by taking the win on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the We Buy Junk Cars Special. Moran netted on a 49 to bring his best 14-week total to 695 points.

T.J. Herndon of Atwood, TN is fourth in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 692 points. Herndon finished fourth on Saturday night at Camden Speedway and was unable to net on a 48. Eddie Rhinehart of Lawrenceburg, TN rounds out the Top 5 in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14-week total of 687 points. Rhinehart did not compete in Week 28 action.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
