ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 29 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action saw several Top 10 position changes in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, but the top three spots remained the same. Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL hosted two Week 29 races on Friday night and Saturday night, and Southern Raceway in Milton, FL had a Saturday night race.

Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Champion. Mitchell drove the Sparks Energy Rocket to a Perfect Season with a best 14-week total of 700 points. Mitchell had 16 wins, 23 top five finishes and 27 top ten finishes in 29 races.

Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is second in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 682 points. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL also had a best 14-week total of 682 points, but Brown won the tie-breaker with nine 50-points wins to four 50-point wins for Ray.

In 21 races, Brown had nine wins, 16 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes driving the Wilkins Logistics Special. Ray had four wins, 16 top five finishes and 21 top finishes driving the Shoals Heating and Air TNT in 27 races.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL drove the David King Automotive Special to his tenth 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. King was able to gain nine points by netting on a 41 to bring his final best 14 week season total to 680 points. That moved King from seventh to fourth in the 2019 National standings. King had 15 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 21 races.

Donovan Henry of Muscle Shoals, AL finishes fifth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 677 points. Henry drove the Cabinet Solutions Rocket to three wins, 13 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 19 races.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in the Randy’s Tree Service Special to gain eight points after netting on a 41. That moved Angle from eighth to sixth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points.

Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL also has a best 14-week total of 676 points, but Angle wins the tie-breaker with six 50-point wins to three 50-point wins for Wallace. Angle had a total of seven wins, 15 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 17 races. Wallace finishes seventh with three wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 26 races driving the Toyota of the Shoals Special.

Doodle Lowe of Warrior, AL finished fifth at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night to net one point after netting on a 45. Lowe will finish eighth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 674 points. Lowe drove the Lowe Racing Special to two wins, 15 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 22 races.

Austin Steele of Moulton, AL will be ninth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 671 points. Steele had one win, 16 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes in 28 races driving the S&S Automotive Rocket. Steele finished eighth on Friday night at Talladega Short Track and was unable to net on a 47.
Silas Hamm of Rogersville, AL drove the Tucker Construction Rocket to a third-place finish on Friday night at Talladega Short Track to gain two points after netting on a 46. That put him tenth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points. Hamm had two wins, 15 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes in 25 races.

In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 29 action, Buddy George of Ragland, AL drove the George Racing Special to the win on Friday night at Talladega Short Track. Taylor Jarvis of Milton, FL was the winner on Saturday night at Southern Raceway driving the Jarvis Racing Special.
