ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL hosted the final two Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Friday night and Saturday night for Week 29 competition. The two races also set the Top 10 points fund paying positions in the National point standings.

Greg Wilkins of Maplesville, AL drove the Wilkins Racing Special to his second Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season on Friday night at Talladega Short Track. On Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL took his sixth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season in the United Maintenance Special.

Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL is the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion with a best 14-week total of 698 points. Riddle had 15 wins, 29 top five finishes and 31 top ten finishes in 32 races driving the Morgan Machine Special. Riddle finished eighth on Friday night and came home third on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and was unable to net on a 49.

The 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN finished second in 2019 with a best 14-week total of 694 points driving the Rounder’s Sports Bar and Grill Special. Gillespie had nine wins, 26 top five finishes and 31 top ten finishes in 33 races.

Chuckie Gipson of Tuscumbia, AL will finish third in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 667 points. Gipson had three wins, 16 top five finishes and 23 top ten finishes in 24 races driving the Service One Transport Special.

Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL drove the Terrell Racing Special to the fourth spot in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 663 points. Terrell had two wins, 15 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 22 races.

Seth Johnston of Santa Fe, TN finished fifth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 661 points. Johnston had one win, 19 top five finishes and 27 top ten finishes in 34 races driving the Johnston Racing Special. Johnston finished seventh on Friday night and 13th on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and was unable to net on a 45.

Blake Cross of Centerville, TN took the sixth spot in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 659 points in the Rock Power Special. Cross had two wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 24 races.

Brent Smith of Rutherford, TN is seventh in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 651 points. Joseph Champion of Anniston, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net on a 41 and gain eight points to bring his best 14-week total to 651 points.

Smith won the tie-breaker with three 50-point wins to one 50-point win for Champion. Smith had five wins, 14 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 16 races driving the Finishline Auto Body Special. Champion drove the Randy’s Tree Service Special to eighth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with one win, nine top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Ryan Sawyers of Newbern, TN is ninth in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 649 points. In 15 races, Sawyers had eight wins and 15 top five finishes driving the Sawyers Motorsports Special.

Ron Bailey of Meridianville, AL rounds out the top ten in the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 646 points. Bailey drove the John’s Auto Repair Special to 16 top five finishes and 29 top ten finishes in 32 races. Bailey finished ninth on Friday night and tenth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and failed to net on a 43.

In the close, but no cigar department, Corey Pressley of Anniston, AL charged to a third-place finish on Friday night at Talladega Short Track in the Pressley Racing Special to net on a 25 and gain 23 points. That brought his best 14-week total to 644 points, three points short of getting into the Top 10 of the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings.
