What is the longevity of a Hoosier LM 20 tire? Time frame when to throw away or can you bring back to life by grinding and tire treatment?

My thought on all LM's, but most certainly the 20, is that once the shallow "groove" built into the tread goes away (meaning the tire has worn that far), it's done. I don't run them past that because it seems the performance goes way down.
