I don't know if I agree with the thought of they are not exactly deserving... possibly you didn't see these 2 race in person?
I cant speak to Barton or Pauschert, but in the 90s and early 2000s you could not show up in the Kentucky,-Southern Illinois- Indiana area without going through Claycomb or English. It didn't matter if your name was Boggs, Moyer or Bloomquist. Even though Claycomb was my favorite of the 2, for a few years you almost knew the rest of the field was racing for 2nd when English rolled through the gate no matter who was there. (Especially those first 2 years after losing his crew chief at Barren County)
Though neither of the 2 have crown jewels at places like Eldora, or a Show Me... the dominance of the region they raced were incredible. If I remember correctly there was a "bounty" offered for someone to beat Claycomb at a track or two in the early-mid 90s.
These two inductees are a little overdue in my opinion actually.

pretty solid class. DOD needs to do a Terry Phillips interview. Would love to hear his racing career journey and stories about his father.

Pretty cool to see TJ Pauschert get in. He was well before my time. I met him a couple years ago when we did gutters on one of his buildings, but didn't get a chance to talk racing with him. One of the first times, if not the first time Terry Phillips drove a mod was in my uncle's car at Batesville. He's one of the toughest, most determined racers to sit in a car.

I’ve seen his entire career, including a lot of it in person. I predict Darrell will get in within the next two years. He’s had a better career than most of the drivers already inducted. I saw most of Terry English’s career. The fact that he’s getting inducted and Darrell Lanigan hasn’t, is mind boggling. Would love to hear that explanation.

After checking both the latest HoF Induction program, and my ballots, I find that Darrell Lanigan has not been inducted (admittedly a surprise to me); apparently he hasn't been nominated, as he does not appear on my latest ballots. Big Mac, if you'd care to, send that list of his accomplishments to me via PM and I'll forward it to the nominating committee for consideration. I don't want to speculate on his chances, but his resume' is pretty complete--at least what you have listed here.

Everyone even slightly involved with the HOF is well aware of his career accomplishments, and I'm sure that little tidbit about Darrell not being nominated has now been taken care of. If he still hasn't been, I will personally nominate him myself. I'm guessing number 29 will be on the blue stage next year -- unless he's on vacation that week lol.

Lannigan is more accomplished on the national stage than 80% of the people who are in the HOF

Raceready, it’s not that zyoung25 is calling him a cheater it’s a joke in reference to a member on here that gives Phillips hell almost every time his name is mentioned.

Lanigan started racing in 1988. Therefore this was the FIRST year he was eligible to be on the ballot HOWEVER he had not been nominated by anyone previously. There is a process and rules involved and whether you think they are good or not, they are followed to the letter. It takes some time as there are over 50 voters across the country that weigh in. Once a driver is nominated and then vetted they go onto a construction ballot which is voted on and the top vote getters go to the main ballot from which the actual class is elected.
