Rocket testing @ Charlotte today
Per the Rocket FB page, they were at Charlotte prepping for testing today. How come their competitors aren't testing?
-
They will be. Today is Rocket Chassis day.
-
Wiess Davenport bloomquist madden clanton king boom and jd were there testing last week with Penske shocks
-
Nothing new. Happens every year.
-
Why do they test for this race every year? Not like it’s the biggest payday
-
It's an invitation deal. I haven't really figured out why they pick that place either. That place is hard on tires as it is. But then again, most of the teams that go down there aren't really worried about the cost of tires.
-
Was at Zmax for NHRA drag racing Thurs thru Monday weekend before last and they were watering and working the dirt track everyday. Wondered why they were working track so soon so now I know.

With the only handful of shows ran at Charlotte in a year, these test sessions are likely as much for the track prep crew as the teams. Likely helps season in the track for the world finals as well. A lot easier to make mistakes and fix them on the prep and watering without all the fans around.
-
What was the winner’s share when they ran the Colossal?
-
Is this for only rocket drivers ? I see lanigan is there per race monitor

Rocket leased the track and anyone was welcome for a fee. They had a post on twitter stating their track date and that spots were available for purchase. Doubt leasing the track for a night is cheap.

William Byron turned some laps too.

Aren’t Most of the major shock folks based in the Charlotte/Moorsville area.
I know Penske and Bilstein are.
Makes sense, they could possibly have more engineers, etc on hand without a huge travel expense.
I think there should be lifeguards in the genepool.

This. When I worked closely with a team that did sweepstakes winnings for customers and rides for businesses that sell the product, the track crew personally came up and talked to the drivers on hand for feedback on the surface. The track-prep crew also looked for other track surface characteristics.

If your on a tour it's a good time to have the right people there that can help you find some extra speed. It's also a good time for the shock guy on your crew to have the guys that engineer them work hand in hand.

Penske is in reading PA , pretty sure integra would be in Michigan with the rest of keyser MFG. The one poster is right rocket posted on twitter to email them for pricing if you wanted to come to the Rocket test. I would love to go but taking a week off work and driving 500 miles one way for something a do a couple times a year isn’t happening
