That’s a shame. Was hoping for something huge. I’ll still go though.

They've done something special for all of the other races that have reached milestone years lately. They're not going to let earls baby go without doing.

I know Roger Slack mentioned planning for the 50th World 100 a year and a half, closer to 2 years ago on Open Red.

There will be something(s) for sure. I am a little surprised prehaps that the Thurs and Fri shows didn't get an increase to win. Not overly surprised they are doing traditional to win for Saturday.

Very curious to what the adders will be.

Perfectly relaxed so don't know what you are referring to? On another note, I sure hope it is something huge!

I for one would love to see the purse increase thru the field, these top heavy purses bring glamour to the event but really doesnt benefit most of the drivers. How about a 50 lap non qualifers race paying 10 grand to win with option to start on tail.

The night goes late enough, and that'd destroy the track and would create a locked down final 25-50 laps of the World or a long rework.

If you want to do it after the World 100 feature, I'm game. Folks can leave if they want, and if you're camping you stay.

Hoping all former winners are present for prerace festivities on Saturday and all their travel expenses paid for by track if not participating themselves. Any fans that’s been to every World should be recognized too. Also a little something for Freddy Smith, definitely the World 100 top heartbreak candidate. Every heat race starter on Saturday gets a grand to start. That’ll get 6 full heats again. And $1 beers!!!!

^^ I know we have lost a few past winners, but this would be awesome to see. Seeing guys like Purvis and Moore on the big E stage again, would be a sight to see.

The Eldora world 100 purse is by far the best one in the sport but by all means keep pumping that liberal narrative the the winner and 28th should pay the same

See on twitter that the 50/50 was not claimed, so the 50/50 on the 11th will start at like $35,000 bucks !

    So there is that !

    LOL

    Just say no...

it has to be something big if slack has been thinking about it for a couple years... that being said i'm not sure what can make the event much better for me.

Take your Fan Hat off and put the Promoter Hat on for a second. $10k to start? $10K non-qualified race? As long as the campground and stands are full they don't need to do anything to be perfectly honest. For every $1,000 you add to the purse, you need to add 2-3 cars to pay for it if the stands and campground is solid.

Flip your promoter hat around the other direction and think about this.

You have an event that has had decreasing car count every year, and for only the 3rd time the past season they had less than 100 cars. While fan support is as good as it has ever been.

Since you have a big anniversary coming up, and an event that has had an incredibly healthy bottom line for years, and not having to prop up a weekly program; while would you not use this opportunity to throw some money at the race to try to build good will among the competitors; while holding ticket prices to keep your grandstand side satisfied.

You try to draw in guys that haven't been in while, or ever, with the ability to make some money this trip or at least break even then treat them so well that maybe a good number come back for next few years to come after the celebration and purses return to more or less normal.

Now you can't just throw endless money at it; but there is very good reasons as a promoter to take a one year hit to try to build relationships with one side of the fence and strengthen the event overall long term.

Do they rest on there merits of a successful event and keep getting 80-90 cars for next few years to come; or do they invest and try to get more folks coming and have 100-120 cars for those coming years.

We will have to agree to disagree. The Eldora shows already get the majority of the National talent and regional talent. Those 20-30 cars that you are looking to add to the event are not going to add to the event other than boasting the car count to be honest. The cream always rises to the top at Eldora. Be happy with the 80-90 cars Eldora gets, the rest of us have to be content with 40-50 for our crown jewels.

Lots of fans like car counts; selling point.

Also if you start getting into car counts of 60-70 you do hurt the event because the nature of the heat races change. 10-12 cars in the heats is a lot less aggression and chance of yellows to stir up the races up compared 15+.

If you can pad the car count, that you need to keep up quality of the heat races, now when there is no end in site of declines due to cost you've possibly bought a few more years of prosperity.

There are plenty of regional guys that come in to Eldora today and knock big national guys out of the A Main. That is part of the draw of Eldora that you lose at many events today, with having provisionals and lower car counts and less guys there that are capable of knocking out a big name.

Is it a gamble to think you can keep more guys coming back for years with one year of inflated purse. Yes. There's also reward out there to be gained.

I do think we need all the racers, not just the elites of the sport to be successful as segment of a motorsport.
