Great stuff, thanks for sharing. Was a young boy at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Springfield, Missouri when they announced that local racer, Willie Crane, was leaving immediately after the feature to pull to Santa Fe for a race. I could only dream of that, it seemed bigger than life. Much of my early interest in dirt racing was fueled by the names and legends from that time.

Miss that track like crazy. Less then a hour from my house. Southwest side of Chicago at 93rd & Wolf Road.
