Should be a good program with both Dirt Kings and USMTS modifieds. Kicked around going up but just didn't have it in me.

A few years ago when Dirt Kings started there was a thread on this site that kinda mocked this series. Now, in its fourth year there is a ground swell of interest in some co-promotion between Wissota and DK because Wissota is struggling with car counts and has backed itself into a geographically challenged corner whereas DK continues to be consistent and even grow. Without DK late model racing in eastern WI was teetering on the brink. Something like this was needed in that area and it came along at the right time. Is it a national series? No. It never intended to be one. It took two localized groups of Late models and gave them a rules package that was competitive with one another. It’s a rules package that is flexible enough where if you have a late model you can run in this series with minor tweaks. It’s been a very, very good thing for the sport so there is no reason to deride it. After all, we want more racing not less that is based on a pigeon holed view of what a dirt late model series should look like.

Give this series respect, it deserves it.

Two seasons ago the Lucas tour came to 141 Speedway. I paid $35/ticket and seen a pretty good show. Later in the season I went for the Dirt Kings show at the same track. $18/ticket with a bigger car count and a much better show with way more passing action. Is the series packed with superstars? Not as much as a national tour but there is some solid talent and they put on good races. I've gone to a bunch of the DK races since the inception and have not been disappointed. Jason is doing a great job with the series. DK is a real value for a race fan in my part of the world.
