Drake Troutman Streaks to Two-Win Weekend
Modified Mega 100 Weekend on Deck

HYNDMAN, Pa. (05/26/20) – Drake Troutman doubled down in Victory Lane over the weekend in both the Modified and Late Model ranks.

The 14-year-old hot shoe won in his Smith Transport No. 7 RFI Resources/ MB Customs Modified on Saturday at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pa. Then on Sunday, the rising young star landed in Victory Lane in his Smith Transport No. 7 Shaffer Construction/ Rocket Chassis Late Model at Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md.

Drake kicked off his Memorial weekend at Roaring Knob Motorsport Complex. In his Modified, Drake secured his spot into the night’s main event with a heat race victory. Outrunning Mitch Thomas, Troutman streaked to his first win of the season over Thomas, Darcy Rex, Greg Hauger, and Mike Eschrich.

Following the tenth fastest lap in Late Model time trials, Troutman posted a fourth-place finish in his heat. Wheeling his way into the Top-5 in the feature, Drake advanced through the field nine spots to place fifth behind Ryan Montgomery, Tyler Carpenter, Matt Sponaugle, and Bryan Bernheisel.

On Sunday afternoon at Potomac Speedway for the Ernie Jones Memorial, Drake laid down the eighth fastest lap in Late Model qualifying before placing third in his heat. Leading flag-to-flag in the feature, Troutman cruised to his second win of the weekend over Dale Hollidge, Jason Covert, Donald Lingo Jr., and Andy Anderson. He earned a $2,522 payday for the triumph.

“It feels great to finally get a big Late Model win,” said Troutman. “This whole weekend will definitely be one never forgotten. Our team has worked so hard to get to this point and we will keep digging. I’m so thankful for all the support that’s behind me to make this possible.”

During the same night in the Modified ranks, Troutman passed ten cars in his heat to register a third-place finish. Starting the A-Main in fourth, Drake slipped back to a 21st place outing in the 20-lap affair.

The team now turns its focus to a very busy weekend. Drake is scheduled to pull double duty on Thursday, May 28 at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W.V.). On Friday, Troutman will once again compete in both the Modified and Late Model ranks as the action shifts to Ohio Valley Speedway (Washington, W.V.).
