Overton Goes Back-to-Back in Lucas Oil at East Bay
Tazewell Speedway on Deck for Saturday

EVANS, Ga. (05/29/20) – Brandon Overton wreaked havoc at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) this week. Overton scored back-to-back $7,000 triumphs in the final two rounds of the of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Reopening Tour at “The Clay by the Bay.”

Following a streak of bad luck at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) one week ago, Brandon found redemption in his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model this week.

“I can’t thank my crew enough, Terry [Cox] and Kent [Fegter]. They’ve busted their butts all week,” said Overton. “We’ve got a really good car right now. Just keep our head down and keep digging.”

“You can’t give up, you know?” Overton added in Victory Lane after thanking his supporters. “Like I said, it proves it over and over again, if you keep digging, it’ll come.”

On Tuesday, Brandon came in fastest in his time trial group before picking up a heat race victory. After leading the first 12 circuits of the feature, third-starting Jonathan Davenport shot ahead of him on the high side on lap 13 to assume command of the top spot.

Joining Davenport on the high side a few laps later, Overton rocketed into the lead on lap 16 and dominated the remaining distance to capture his sixth win of the season. Davenport, Jimmy Owens, Shane Clanton, and Kyle Bronson trailed him to the checkers in the 40-lap affair.

Wrapping up the Lucas Oil Reopening Tour on Wednesday, Overton topped the speed charts in time trials before cruising to a 10-lap heat race win. After getting shuffled back to fifth early in the feature, Brandon patiently waited for the time to make his move to the front.

Overtaking Mason Zeigler for second after the front-runners made contact while battling for the lead, Brandon began closing in on Tyler Erb for the top spot in the final laps. After exchanging sliders on the final circuit, Overton narrowly outran Erb to the checkers on the final corner to capture his second win in as many nights.

Finishing 0.206 seconds ahead of Erb, Mason Zeigler, Jimmy Owens, and Devin Moran, Overton earned his seventh win of the season.
