Jimmy Mars an Impressive Runner-Up Against Outlaws at Davenport; Masters Next!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team ventured south to the Hawkeye State on May 29-30 for a pair of lucrative World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series contests at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa. On the 1/4-mile oval on Friday night, Jimmy grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race prior to rolling off from the inside of the seventh row in the $6,000 to win main event. During the course of the 30-lap sprint, Jimmy fought hard to move forward in the race before eventually being paid for a fifteenth place showing.

On Saturday evening at Davenport, a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs with racing action slated for the sprawling 1/2-mile speedplant. Jimmy knocked down the twelfth fastest lap in Group A during qualifying before finishing third in his heat race. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout then started eleventh on the grid in the 40-lap weekend finale, but did not stay outside of the top ten for long. Jimmy wound up blasting all the way up to second to finish an impressive runner-up behind only victor Brandon Sheppard! Full results from both weekend tilts, which were held in front of no fans in the grandstand due to COVID-19 restrictions, can be located online at www.woolms.com.

Mars Racing has opted to take the upcoming June 5-6 weekend off from racing action, but will be busy at shop taking care of customer cars and prepping their own machines for the 21st Annual ‘Masters’ weekend. Jimmy will unload both a Late Model and a USMTS Modified in the three-day extravaganza from June 11-13 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. A $3,000 winner’s check will be on the line in both divisions on that Thursday, while Friday’s feature events will pay $5,000 to win in each class. During the ‘Masters’ finale on Saturday, Jimmy will vie for the $10,000 payday in both his Late Model and Modified.
