ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The defending Newsome Raceway Parts Modified Sportsman National Champion is picking it up where he left off last season as Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL shares the Weekly Racing Series National point lead with Scottie Hiett of Wedowie, AL. After Week 2 competition, Riddle and Hiett each have 99 points.

Riddle drove the Morgan Machine Special to victory on Thursday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Hiett ran second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the East Alabama Truck Repair Special. The cars of both Riddle and Hiett are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

Seth Johnston of Santa Fe, TN is third in the Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model Sportsman National standings with 97 points, and Tracy Terrell is fourth with 96 points. Ron Bailey of Harvest, AL is fifth in the standings with 94 points and Andy McDowell is sixth with 93 points. Cody Howard of Russellville, AL is seventh with 91 points.

Sam Hughes took the Saturday night win at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL to move into a three-way tie for the eighth spot in the Modified Sportsman National standings with Michael Blakeney of Oxford, AL and Chris Howell with 90 points apiece.
