Billy Moyer Wires West Liberty Field for $5,000 Win; Heads to Magnolia!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) "Mr. Smooth" Billy Moyer landed in victory lane for the second time in 2020 and for the 842nd time in his illustrious career on Sunday, June 14 at West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa! Billy clicked off the ninth fastest lap in Group A during the Lucas Oil MLRA Series qualifying session before storming to a heat race triumph. After starting from the pole in the 30-lap headliner, Billy wired the feature field to score the $5,000 payday ahead of Tyler Bruening, Tony Jackson, Jr., Tony Toste, and Mitch McGrath!

The #21 team was in action earlier in the weekend in two more MLRA tilts across the states of Missouri and Iowa. The tripleheader weekend started on Friday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri. Billy placed third in his stacked heat race and later moved up to ninth in the $3,000 to win main event. At Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa on Saturday evening, the Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer won his heat race in preliminary action prior to slipping back to sixth at the checkered flag of the $5,000 to win A-Main. Full results from all three races can be accessed by clicking on www.mlraracing.com.

"The tires were a real big deal,” quoted Moyer in victory lane following the West Liberty triumph. “We knew it in the heat race that there were going to be some issues in the main, so we tried to do our tires a little bit different and for sure drive the car real gentle and not spin the tires. The car was real good, so I didn't think I would have any tire troubles and as easy I was being on them - it all just turned out. I have to thank all of my sponsors for their continued support especially Karl Chevrolet, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Henderson Motorsports, Jack’s Auto Parts, M&S Concrete, Capital Race Cars, and just everybody that is involved in our program!”

Next up for Billy Moyer Racing will be a visit to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi from June 18-20 for a lucrative Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triple shot. A pair of $5,000 top prizes will be up for grabs tonight and Friday in preliminary programs leading into Saturday’s annual running of the ‘Clash at the Mag.’ Drivers will earn valuable points in each of the two prelims that will determine the lineup for Saturday night’s grand finale. The top eighteen in points will be locked into the 100-lap A-Main, while the rest of the field will line up in consolation events - with hopes of finishing in a coveted transfer spot to race for the $15,000 paycheck.

All three shows will be broadcast LIVE on LucasOilRacing.tv. Thursday and Friday night’s events will be available to monthly and/or yearly subscribers and tape delayed for air on the MAVTV Motorsports Network. Saturday night’s finale at Magnolia Motor Speedway will be available for yearly subscribers only, but tape delayed to air on both the MAVTV Motorsports Network and NBC Sports.
