Trio of Top-5 Finishes for Tyler Erb in Clash at the Mag
Lucas Oil Doubleheader on Tap this Weekend

ST. MARYS, Ohio (06/24/20) –Tyler Erb drove the Industrial Resourcing Group No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports/ Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to a trio of Top-5 finishes over the weekend.

Amid the Lucas Oil Late Model Series (LOLMDS) invasion of Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the General Tire Clash at the Mag – Presented by Big River Steel, Erb recorded two fifth-place finishes and one podium performance.

“On one hand I’m bummed because I feel like we let some wins get away from us this weekend, but on the other hand, we were really consistent and that’s a definite plus,” Erb said. “This Series is tough; consistency is key with this competition; the wins will come.”

Kicking off the three-day event on Thursday night, Erb was one of 55 entrants for the $5,000-to-win preliminary program. Following the fifth fastest lap in his time trial group, Erb streaked to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the feature. Slipping two spots in the 25-lap affair, Tyler notched a fifth-place finish behind Bobby Pierce, Jimmy Owens, Ross Bailes, and Shane Clanton.

On Friday afternoon for another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Tyler topped the speed charts in his qualifying group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Unable to close the distance on red-hot Jimmy Owens in the 25-lap feature, Erb posted a third-place finish behind Owens and Josh Richards. Frank Heckenast Jr. and Michael Page rounded out the Top-5.

For the final round of the Clash at the Mag on Saturday evening, Erb’s preliminary performances locked him into the second-starting position for the $15,000-to-win finale alongside Jimmy Owens. After sliding ahead of Owens on lap 16 to assume command of the top spot for two circuits, Tyler faded late in the 100-lapper to place fifth behind Owens, Shane Clanton, Josh Richards, and Bobby Pierce.

This weekend – June 26-27 – Erb and the BPM team will follow the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) on Friday before trekking to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Saturday. Both events will be highlighted by a $12,000-to-win feature.
