    Default 602 handling help

new to forum not sure if posting in the correct place. I have a 2006 grt with 2019 updates. Our base set up in the car is very good off the trailer when the tracj is heavy. As the night goes so does our traction off the corner. Car is very loose in middle of corner and exit. Was just wanting some opinions on what everyone would to hell this problem as the night goes

welcome to the forum their is a actual crate section but that doesn't exclude you from this section. Gonna need a little more info than that if you want any real help. It's generally necessary to break the corner down into 5 different but overlapping areas entry, center, exit, accelerating, decelerating. Are you running the car as is if the trailer the whole night. If not what things are you doing.

Not to hijack but going from a 604 to a 602 crate (RULES: no stacks/no spring rubbers/no bumps/no LR front shock)....what overall changes would you make & what changes would you do to free the car up getting in?

    Springs
    LF 350
    RF 300
    LR 175
    RR 250

225rr but your probably gonna struggle more through the center with the nose weight and lower power

We are going to re-scale once we get the engine in but I have always heard roughly 50 lbs heavier than the 602. What do you suggest as far as tightness thru the center? (More lower LR bar angle, Trailing RR bars, etc)

What about droop load? Wouldn't more help on a tacky track with less HP?

Depending on car and engine position, I'm going to assume the left side weight may have went down? Did you compensate for that or have you ran car yet with the 602 (sounds like no on this one)?

Did you have the LR Rear shock revalved (No LRF shock)?

We haven't picked up the engine yet so we haven't been able to check any of the weights. I would assume along with the lower left side weight that the rear weight has gone down too. I am not sure of the weight difference between a 604 and 602 but I do know it has steel heads.

We have a LR rear shock for this application.

We have been able to run the car with the 602 a couple of nights (1st night rainy/muddy & 2nd night smooth/slick). We ran 2nd this past Saturday night on a smooth slick track but we are still a bit tight getting in. Heres where the car is:
    -RR lower bar top hole
    -RR upper top hole
    -LR lower top hole
-LR upper two holes down (50 degrees @ full drop)
    -RR 4 link bars lengthen 3/4 " back....yes 3/4"
-RF spring 325 (not allowed bump stops or stacks)
    -LF 350
    -RR 250
    -LR 125
-Reduced fuel load to reduce rear weight...car was nearly 100 lbs heavier than legal weight

Car has a LF chain but it is nearly all the way out & it has a 25 lb chunk of weight right in front of the rearend. I was thinking about tightening the chain back up, removing weight, and possibly trying a 300 RF. I am also looking for suggestions/ideas

Your setup is similar to where we started a few races ago, other than we are on a rf bump.

We have softened the rr to a 225, removed lead from front of fuel cell to lf, and took 100 lbs of load outa rr.

Were still a little too tight but we have made big gains on it!

Won't the 225 on the RR create a small throttle push in the center? The driver has been good about keeping the car up and on the throttle through the turn.

Is there anything else steer-wise that we could do besides shorten LR bars? Add drop & lower the LR upper to keep it's angle the same but allow the LR lower to gain angle?

We have one hole lower left to go on the frame for the j-bar. Wouldn't that loosen some getting in but tighten coming off?

We did change out the standard lr underslung and put our own in,...ie, added more drop!

Very little GRT experience, long time ago.Tight in.... on or off the fuel? Is this a track where you can be on the fuel on entry? Ran 2nd, but how do your lap times compare to best? Does car drop down LR on entry?

Early in the night the car is tight in ON the throttle. Driver is consistent and uses the pedals good enough to keep the car on the bars in one corner but sometimes drops off in the other corner (different style corners). Winner had a straightaway lead at the end and pretty much from lap 2. Don't have any actual lap times.

For this upcoming weekend we have removed a 25-30 lb chunk of weight from the rearend area & lowered the RF spring to a 300

With the amount of drop you have, and current 4 bar placement, do you have any preload in the LR spring at full droop?

Yes. Roughly around 40-50lbs at full drop

Also, we switched out the short lr upper to the standard one, driver felt it made a smoother transition.
