ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Scottie Hiett of Wedowie, AL leads the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Modified Sportsman National point standings after Week 5 competition. Hiett finished second on Friday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to bring his season total to 248 points.

Seth Johnston of Santa Fe, TN is second in the Newsome Raceway Parts Modified Sportsman National standings with 242 points. Johnston finished fourth on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

The defending Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman National Champion Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL drove the Morgan Machine Special powered by an economical Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a $1,000 victory on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL. Riddle is third in the National standings with 240 points.

Tim Staples of Pell City, AL picked up the win on Friday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Glass Works Plus Special with Chevrolet Performance 602 power. Staples is fourth in the Modified Sportsman National standings with 234 points. Billy Wilkins is fifth in the standings with 226 points after a fifth place on Saturday night at ECM Speedway.

Ron Bailey of Harvest, AL finished eighth on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and he is sixth in the Modified Sportsman National standings with 223 points. Corey Pressley of Anniston, AL is seventh in the standings with 220 points after a third-place finish on Friday night at Talladega Short Track.

Jamie Gowers of Vincent, AL finished fifth on Friday night at Talladega Short Track to hold the eighth spot in the Modified Sportsman National standings with 216 points. Carlton Freeman of Eastaboga, AL is ninth with 213 points after finishing 15th on Friday night at Talladega Short Track. Paul Poe of Ragland, AL finished 20th on Friday night at Talladega Short Track and rounds out the top ten in the National standings with 211 points.

In other Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Modified Sportsman Week 5 action, Chuckie Gipson of Tuscumbia, AL took the win on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Rain washed out Saturday night Week 5 action at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS and at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN.

Drivers in the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Modified Sportsman Division will compete for both a weekly point fund and a National point fund over a 22 Week season that runs through November 1. A driver will count their best 11 weekly point races for their National point total.
