They said the camera was just a couple feet past the flag stand. But when the cars reach the camera, Rice is clearly ahead. How does the lead change within three or four feet, at those speeds?

The obvious question is ... why don’t they put the camera at the finish line like they do in horse racing?

As I said in the other thread, the time line at Florence is not buried in line with the flagstand. This isn't the first time this has happened there.

So if the line isn’t at the flag stand, what trips the transponder lap counter?

It's there, it's just not where it should be.

EPJ is a good guy.. not sure anyone was not happy to see him win.. BUT it looked like Rice got him at the line. Rice had the momentum, it's not like they were running the same speed to the line.

Sorry folks, you can’t see .002 seconds not knowing where the scoring loop is in the track. And the LORTV camera made it look worse, by the time they get inline with the cars to see who is in front they are long past the loop and flag stand.

Based off the photo on DOD, sure looks like old EPJ won.

For the record the transponder location is (or at least last time I seen the rules) located on the left front lower frame rail directly behind the bumper mount. Which fails to account for the different cars, example would be a swartz is about 12” shorter frame length than a rocket. The location should be moved to mid plate like many mods do or rear axle. Something more uniform.

After seeing that picture it's even more clear that EPJ won. For you folks that subscribe to Dirt On Dirt go do your selves a favor. That picture is dead on from the infield looking at the start / finish line!
It's on the main page of the website where the 4 main stories scroll. it's the 2nd article. look at the picture.

    Default 3 Bad Laps

Josh let EPJ back in the race. Josh had 47 laps that were nearly perfect. Unfortunately the 3 bad laps were lap 48,49 and 50. It was Josh's race to win and he had problems in turns 3 and 4 on the last 3 laps and let EPJ get the win. This was Josh's best finish in a Lucas Race and I would think he would be one of the favorites to win tomorrow night. This was one of those races where a driver had to put together 50 nearly perfect laps to get the win. Congrats to Josh on a great finish and congrats to Jerry, Robin and James on a great RBR finish.

Some places bury the transponder line when you come out of turn 4. Others at the flag stand. I believe that's where they have it at East Bay because they had to redo it during the opening back up tour. If you look on the broadcast the track was all tore up in that area.

Ultimate Lancaster race that Zach Mitchell won by inches (the announcer said wait for scoring due to transponders). Made sense.
