Story linked above has been updated with photos, including Payne's rollover crash.

Adjust the car to the limit, quit trying to cheat the limit. Quite simple

I believe that was a brand new Capital Race Car that Payne rolled. Tough way to debut a new car.

Would love to see Weiss in a Rocket XR1 also. I think he could contend with Sheppard for a lot more wins then.

Madden surprised me winning right away. Of course he did the same thing with the Bloomer car last year. Glad he has a good car again, I am not a particular fan, but he is an excellent driver.

One doesn't have to be a fan of yours to be a great wheelman. Lol

Yep, we all know Madden can wheel but no way to know how he'd be in a new car with a new team. He was really impressive and is no doubt the odds on to win the points for the Southern Nats. 1/2 miler tonight at Wythe and we know he's good on those.

Just love the deep and capable field at Smoky Mountain last night and with tonight's being a 10k to win as well expect the same. ....... Wondering if we see Overton and Madden battling down to the end.

Yeah, Overton should be closer to the front, so it could come down to those two. The 17 cannot be counted out either. 58 can get it done at times. Should be entertaining

I'm going with Overton tonight. Wytheville is an up-on-the wheel and stand-on-the gas joint. Seems like a place where he would do well. I love watching races from there.

You have it right, BTE. It was a soft roll coming out of turn 2 and he was on the bottom. IIRC he's a school teacher, they call him coach, so hopefully the damage is minimal and he's on the track tonight at Wythe.

Again IIRC he won a non-points SN race at Tazwell for 10k a week or two ago so he's more than capable vs these guys.

Oh yea fellas, lotta capable drivers will go after the 10k tonight. I'm with you TS, if Overton starts anywhere near Madden and McDowell he has a great chance........ Hedgeco$# too.

Would love to see a Hardy, McIntosh, Knuckles, Chilton, Bailes type beat the big dogs though.

Was trying to keep an eye on the young kid John Baker out of GA. Kid started 14th and finished 11th running every lap. Nice showing for him and no doubt a confidence booster. Would be nice to see a top 10 and improve as the series goes on. ........ There are 4 races scheduled in GA so he'll be on his home turf and familiarity will be on his side.

Let’s be honest. This was Overton’s race to win. If he doesn’t break, he wins.

It is a new ride for Madden, not a new team.

Madden is familiar with the Millwoods? ............. On another note Payne went back to NC and hopes to get the car fixed and back to the Southern Nats but he won't race tonight at Wythe.
