Is Ruben correct that Billy Drake is from Peoria? Does he know longer live in Bloomington?

Done at 9.30....Good race at Spoon, Congrats to Robinson and a well run program. Good points night for Shirley

Good pass by KRob Shirley road the top the whole race except for the last couple of laps must have wanted to take KRobs line away but it didn’t work.
-
Car owner for drake is from Peoria. Billy lives a few blocks away from me.

Very good race and track. Another place that knows how to prep a track and run a show. Nice job Spoon River! Nice win for KRob as well!
-
Thanks Shiny for the updates once again. Sounds like a real thriller.

Show complete at 10:45. That may be the best Hornet feature I've ever seen.

Can't believe Brian moved down. He was maintaining on top. Wonder if his flagman moved him down? He had that race won.

Spoon is a no frills joint but a really good racetrack. Kind of one of a kind in the midst of the central IL bullrings. Very enjoyable night at the races tonight. Kept the show moving and track was good. Few hours sleep then work and then off to Farmer City.

Good run for Carpenter. Maybe a momentum builder.

I've always loved the Spoon River track. Wish they could get a major late model race. I assume seating capacity is a bit of a hindrance.

After watching this race couldn't wait until this morning to see the recap on DoD to see what Shirley had to say about changing his line. If you haven't seen it yet it's very good, go take a listen.
Shirley gave a great account and mentioned that he could feel his right rear heating up, couldn't catch Fegar to lap him, saw KRob down low gaining so he decided to see what he could do down there. Watching I thought the same thing. Shirley was not gonna win up high, that was going away for him, so he may as well go down to see if he could get a little faster or at least block KRob.
I think he did the right thing. Wasn't gonna win on top so may as well try the bottom. Same as we see a lot of guys running 2nd or 3rd late in a race and not gaining move up to see if they can find some speed up there. This was just the other way around.
Great race and hats off to a driver who pays for everything. Grass roots racer as far as I can tell who beat the big boys and got a much needed big check. The two SN I really wanted to see most were at Fairbury and Spoon, my two favorite IL tracks. The rest is gravy for me.

What was Shirley's crew members saying to Robinson after the feature in turn 1 after he scaled?
-
And for me really good to see Carpenter with a top 3. I think we always root for youngsters, especially talented ones. Kid raced a bit over the top the first two races drawing the ire of some vets but IMO has shown some maturity since. He rode the bottom the next few races and stayed out of trouble in each of them getting a 9th, 10th and now 3rd with no drama and not busting up his equipment.
Like Yogi Berra said, "90% of this game is half mental" and Carpenter is showing signs that he might have the mental part to be a player.
