    Wow. Shocker. Watched him and interviewed him many times back in the day. He always had one of the best looking cars. RIP, Tim.

    I just heard about this. I saw him win a STARS race at Cherokee Speedway, years ago. RIP

    Yep, Escobar, but he won a STARS race there one year too. It seems like it was a 4th of July race.

    I totally forgot that STARS held races that far south.

    I was 14 years old at the 1998 Pittsburgher 100 and the cars were pulling onto the track for the pre-race driver announcements. I stood at the turn one yuke tire with a camera and snapped photos of each car that went onto the track. Tim Hitt was the only driver that stopped his car as he was exiting the pits to allow me to take a good photo of him in the car. I remember it very well. My condolences to the Hitt family. He forever made an impact on my vision in dirt late model racing.
