Default Are tear downs still a thing?

At my local track I remember people protesting a car and the car being stripped down to nothing looking for illegal stuff. I've never heard of this happening on a national tour. There's passing tech, but that's it. Passing tech seems more like an IQ test than checking for how legal a car actually is.

I haven't heard of a single one in many years.

They do it in IMCA land if you win, or run well consistently. Not sure if any other series does it anymore though.

Dennis Erb in Florida this year. Although it was not for anything illegal on the car. Can't remember the last time before that though. Maybe Bloomer at Eldora.

It's not common for post race tech to be very detailed these days, even at the weekly level. Drivers are usually blackballed by their competitors if they speak out about another driver possibly cheating, which makes the protest option a seldom used tool to keep competition on a level playing field.

Yea, forgot about that. Both droop rule violations IIRC.

Didn't Culp take a break from late models for a bit (and maybe put his stuff up for sale) a couple years ago after he lost to Moyer in a Summer Nationals race and accused him of cheating?

Then wasn't Moyer told to take something off then he went home for 3-4 days. Seems like he was first or second in points. 2015 maybe???

I think tear downs still occasionally happen in crate racing.

If the engine rule is run anything you want unless it has a blower on it or doesn't have a distributor, what would you be looking for in the tear down process?

Shovel on a little more coal, then when we cross white oak mountain, watch 97 roll!

The problem is the gall dang motors.
