    Default Bad races

Haven’t seen a good late model show this year. I-55 Karl 50, FC summer nats, Sycamore $4k, lasalle summer nats. All 1 groove tracks. Sprint shows at I-55 and Beaver dam seemed better. Think it’s time for inverts or pill draw in late models.

Davenport Speedway is where you need to be. Great racing all year!

Haven't seen a bad late model race there since the Kay family took over one year ago!

Seems to be a dirt racing thing in general.

Start your year at East Bay like I do, wouldn't have that problem.

I believe i-55 was the only one that brought machinery out before feature time. I'm talking about races I have attended in person this year just for clarification. Hoping beaver dam next week turns the year around. Been a long time since I have seen lates up there.

When my family ran a race track we raced on friday nights. We graded the track on saturday. Dragged it and walk around it a million times to pick up any rocks. Then Wednesday, Thursday and ALL day Friday we watered.

Seen 2 great races this year so far. Friday night, East Bay, Winternationals and MSCCS at ECM. ...Worst race of the year so far, the clash at the Mag.

I remember being at a hav-a-tampa race many many years ago at Lasalle.. Format was heat races lined up fastest at front. Feature lined up by heats by top finishing spots at front. I'd never seen a format like this in my life. I remember thinking "So a guys sets fast time, starts on pole of heat and wins, then starts on pole of feature and wins. Collects the $10,000 prize and never passes a car all night."
It didn't happen that way that night, but I've seen it play out exactly like that many times since. Later a lot of weekly races went to same type format. It doesn't make for a lot of excitement in features anymore.

I started off the year in January going to New Mexico & Arizona. The best race I attended this year was the Summer nationals race @ FALS. With bad storms on the way they moved the program along & the racing was outstanding in the Mods and Late Models. You had no idea who was going to win the race until the checker flag fell. Then the Storm hit soon there after... There was just to much moisture in the track last night @ LaSalle. Nice to see the stands packed though.

Best Fastest car/driver of the night has to start in the back? How is that fair and if starting position wasn’t through qualifying or heats then why would the fast cars try to win heat or get fast time? This isn’t socialism.

Unfortunately we'll see a rare no pass, fastest on the pole wins the race race mixed in with some fine races like Davenport where there were 6 lead changes and a guy (Hurst?) start in the 11th row race up to 6th. .........

The redraw helps though. If Shirley draws 4 last night instead of the pole do we see a better race? Maybe, but we can assume if there was a high groove as dominant as the bottom we certainly would have......... Davenport had a redraw, multiple grooves and had a fine race LaSalle had a redraw, one groove and the race was just ok.

No silver bullet I guess but simply said without a multiple grooves surface you won't have a good race.

Would extending the pill draw to the top 8 from top 4 starting spots or is that too much a burden on a team that out worked/smarted the rest of the field?

Late model racing has went downhill the last five years.

That's Billy Moyer Jr's dream situation! I like the guy but I haven't seem him pass cars in 15 years until this year, and he can actually do it. I was beginning to wonder.
