"Intercontinental Classic".....that is almost mocking the "World". Seems odd. Could have come up with a better name than that, but at least there will be a race I suppose.

ROSSBURG, Ohio (August 12, 2020) – Eldora Speedway officials have announced the 50th World 100 has been rescheduled to early September 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.

The legendary half-mile dirt oval’s biggest and most-famous event was scheduled for September 10-11-12.

Despite Governor Mike DeWine and the State of Ohio’s tremendous resolve to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Ohio Department of Health’s orders which restrict mass gatherings and prohibit spectators from grandstand events at large venues remain in effect.

Fans who purchased reserved seats, general admission tickets and campsites for the 50th World 100 should retain their tickets, camping credentials and receipts at this time. Officials will communicate updated event information direct to patron accounts as it becomes available, on www.EldoraSpeedway.com and via Eldora’s official social channels.

Will the Honky Tonk Man be there to defend his Intercontinental Title?

Your anticipation and disappointment is totally understandable. The first time at a place like Eldora is special, to say the least.

We've attended the past 11 or 12 Four Crown Nationals in a row after thievery at the World persuaded us to stop attending. We did 22 or 23 World Hundreds dating back to when we were working with a late model team and later as a spectator along with several Dream's including the first. The feeling is still there to this day similar to that first time Big E came into view as we were southbound on rt. 118.

When you do finally get to Eldora it will be even more special given the fact that you had to wait a year longer than you originally planned.

You won't see us at the World, ff. We gave that up in lieu of the Four Crown Nationals due to a couple of our group being the victims of thievery at the World.

I guess T-Erb will have to watch this one. I hope he is able to keep his ride next year. WOO has really dropped the hammer down pretty hard on him. With the suspension & fines and all.

It’s entirely possible, likely even, that the Intercontinental race name is inspired by the wrasslin’, because having a race that’s kinda important, but not as important as the main race is kinda like the intercontinental belt and the world title.

It really would be that outlandish if it came to light that somebody with some stroke at Eldora is a professional wrestling fan. Millions of people watch wrestling each week.

I'm happy there was a stream to replace it. It would have been a waste of September.
