Earl Pearson Jr. Runner-Up in COMP Cams Topless 100
Tripleheader at Port Royal Speedway on Deck

SHREVEPORT, La. (08/26/20) – Earl Pearson Jr. recorded a running up finish on Saturday night in his Lucas Oil No. 1 P&W Sales/ Drive4Etch.com/ Clements Racing Engine/ Black Diamond Chassis House Car.

Pearson was one of 48 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Ark.) on Thursday night for the opening round of the 28th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 weekend.

After fading back to fourth early in his heat race, Pearson rebounded to pick up the win, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature. Holding his position for all 30 laps, Earl notched a fourth place finish behind Tim McCreadie, Jimmy Owens, and Dale McDowell with Billy Moyer Jr. coming in fifth.

For another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature on Friday, Earl followed up the sixth fastest lap in his time trial group with a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the sixth-starting position for the A-Main, Pearson Jr. was consistent for all 30 laps, crossing the line in sixth.

With preliminary finishes from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for the main event on Saturday evening, Pearson was sixth overall in preliminary points, which positioned him on the third row for the feature.

With $40,000 on the line, Earl marched forward four spots to register a runner-up finish behind Jimmy Owens. Tim McCreadie, Billy Moyer Sr., and Dale McDowell rounding out the Top-5.

“It was looking like they were going to have a heck of a finish between Jimmy and Billy. We started sixth and finished second in this Lucas Oil car, so it was a good race for us. Billy got me on that restart. Jimmy’s on fire right now and it feels good to come home second to him. Jimmy is winning everything right now. Mooney did a heck of a job on the racetrack, especially with as many cars that were here and the heat. He did a really good job.”

The Black Diamond Race Team now shifts their focus to a tripleheader header at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take to the track on Thursday for a $10,000-to-win program. On Friday, the winner’s purse increases to $12,000-to-win before wrapping up with a $15,000-to-win event on Saturday.
