Tanner English Impressive Over Labor Day Weekend with Pair of Top Fives!

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) Tanner English headed to the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia from September 4-6 for a trio of high-profile Super Late Model contests. On Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky in the $12,000 to win 'John Bradshaw Memorial,' which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Tanner ran third in his heat race and eleventh in the 50-lap main event. At Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, another $12,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Bob Miller Memorial River Days Rumble 50.' Tanner placed fourth in his heat race and suffered a flat tire early in the contest, but stormed back from the tail of the field to land on the podium in third behind only race winner Hudson O'Neal and runner-up Jimmy Owens!

A last minute trip to Beckley Motorsports Park in Beckley, West Virginia then greeted the Riggs Motorsports team on Sunday for the 'Beckley USA 100.' A $15,000 winner's check was up for grabs in the unsanctioned program, which drew a 26 car field. Tanner was strong in preliminary action and later started the 100-lap main event from the outside of the front row. The Benton, Kentucky ace ran in the second spot early in the distance, suffered a flat tire on lap 60, and rebounded to earn a solid fifth place effort behind only victor Zack Dohm, Tyler Erb, Ryan Montgomery, and Henry Hornsby III. Complete results from each Labor Day weekend race can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com and the Beckley Motorsports Park Facebook page.

Tanner still sits tenth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings and is leading the Rookie of the Year chase on the national touring series. With the LOLMDS tour sitting idle this weekend, Tanner will take the opportunity to race in his home state of Kentucky on Saturday evening, September 12. The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series will preside over the annual running of the ‘Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ tomorrow at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky. A $10,022 payday is up for grabs in the single-day event at LCS and Tanner is the defending race winner! Additional information can be viewed by clicking on www.lcspeedway.net.
