Schedule Changes Announced for Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Tour; Busy October Ahead

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Fresh off a successful season-opening weekend on September 5-6 in the Volunteer State of Tennessee, which saw Mike Marlar and Donald McIntosh both reach Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series victory lane, series promoter Ray Cook announced a couple of schedule changes today for the second year tour. The next previously scheduled event at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday, September 19 has recently been canceled by track officials. That sets up the annual running of the ‘Tarheel 50’ at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina as the next Fall Nationals show. A $10,000 payday will be up for grabs at Tri-County on Friday, October 9 and Brandon Overton comes into the contest as the defending race winner.

“I hated to lose the North Georgia event for this Saturday, but they have a new promoter there and haven’t opened the gates too many times this year,” commented Cook today via telephone. “With all of the uncertainty going on in the world and him being a new promoter, he just felt better canceling the show for this year. I look forward to working with North Georgia Speedway again in the future.”

With the loss of one series race comes the addition of another special event for the Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels during the month of October. Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia will fill in an empty spot on the schedule on Saturday, October 31. The single-day shootout at the picturesque, 1/2-mile speedplant will pay out a $10,000 top prize in the ‘Halloween Spooktacular.’ Wythe will greet the cars and stars of the Fall Nationals tour for the very first time, but they have long been a stalwart on the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series tour by hosting an event every year since 2006.

“It is a pleasure to work with Fred Brown and his staff at Wythe Raceway again,” Cook went on to say. “They hosted a successful July race with our Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series and I have to thank them for adding to our Fall Nationals lineup. With this show added to our October schedule, there is currently $30,000 in winner’s checks on the line and over $96,000 in total prize money during the month… and we are working on more!”
