R.J. Conley Cashes Five Figure Payday for Dominating Fireball 50 at Atomic!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, recorded his second special event victory at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio in a matter of only three weeks on Saturday evening, September 12 by wiring the field in the unsanctioned 'Fireball 50.' R.J. clicked off the second fastest time overall during the qualifying session before securing a heat race triumph. He then started the 50-lap main event from the pole position and led each circuit to bag the $10,000 top prize ahead of Freddie Carpenter, Steve Casebolt, Delmas Conley, and Cody Scott!

Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Delmas Conley had one of his best runs of the 2020 racing season, as the ageless wonder placed fourth in his loaded heat race before picking off six competitors during the 50-lapper. The fourth place effort marked his second Top Five finish of his campaign in only a handful of feature starts. Rod Conley was also in action on Saturday at Atomic Speedway and started off the night by posting the sixth fastest lap during time trials and winning his heat race. "Hot Rod" was then running in the third spot in the "Fireball 50' when a stripped set of gears sent him pitside and relegated him to a disappointing fourteenth place showing. Complete results from Atomic Speedway can be accessed online at www.atomicspeedway.net.

“It has been awhile since I won a $10,000 to win race, it feels pretty darn good,” quoted R.J. via telephone this week. “We’ve really got my car dialed in the last few weeks and have only been making little small changes to it throughout the night. I was able to run pretty much wide open throughout the race and I guess lapped all but three cars. We’ve still got a lot of nice paying races around here to close out the year, so hopefully we can keep running strong and get another win or two!”

The three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers will return to action this Saturday night, September 19 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley will all vie for the $2,000 winner’s check in a weekly Super Late Model showdown at the southern Ohio oval. This will be the final tune-up race at PRP for next month’s 40th Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship,’ which once again pays out a lucrative $100,000 first place prize.
