He didn't just win the race he dominated it. He lead 102 out of 103 laps and was fast qualifier
-
Good for him, I know they had raced that race for a few years now.
-
That's great to hear! Good job Unzicker... Show them pavement boys how to getter done on dirt.
-
Did they qualify and race on the same day?

Good for Unzicker. He has been competitive in those ARCA dirt races for years. It is sad to see so few cars for the race. Only 17 cars. Used to draw mid 30’s or more and used to be a great show.
-
Congratulations to Ryan and his crew!!

Congratulations to Unzicker. This was his 11th or 12th start in an ARCA car on The Springfield Mile. He's paid his dues and seems to have figured out how to drive the bigger, heavier full bodied cars on the dirt.
The guy I feel happiest seeing in victory lane is Bill Hendren. Hendren's involvement in USAC/ARCA stock car competition goes all the way back to the days when Kenny Rowley drove the yellow #27 car in USAC, and later in ARCA competition. Hendren & Rowley ran a good program that was owned and sponsored by Hendren Implement Company. Kenny was tough at Fairbury. He came close to winning the ARCA race at Springfield on more than one occasion in the Hendren & Rowley car.
There have been a few dirt late model drivers who have won ARCA dirt races on the dirt mile tracks. Pat Sheltra, Billy Thomas, and Bob Hill have won at Springfield. Those that never made the grade include some big names in DLM racing: Bloomquist, Kevin Gundaker, Terry English, Steve Kosiski, John Gill, Steve Boley, Tony Izzo Jr., Bob Pierce, D!ck Taylor and a few I don't recall, I'm sure.
Unzicker has reason to hold his head high. Not many from his primary racing genre' have accomplished what he did today!!

Congratulations Ryan Unzicker.👍

Does anyone know what the ARCA championship pays at the end of the season? I always heard their purses and points fund weren't great.
-
I couldn't find the point fund, but the premier race on the schedule, Daytona, paid only $16,000 to win.
