Racing doubleheader caps off 2020 season at Smoky Mountain Speedway

Maryville, Tennessee – Smoky Mountain Speedway will close out the 2020 season with two big nights of racing on October 16 & 17. The King of the Mountain Championship Weekend will crown champions in two touring series and two SMS divisions with over $100,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Racing action begins on Friday, October 16 with the Southern All-Stars, American Crate All-Stars, and Topless Outlaws Late Models Series in action. The Southern All-Stars and Topless Outlaws will each be racing for $3,000 to win while the American Crates will race for $2,000 to win. The limited late model championship will be decided as part of the Topless Outlaw race. Kyle Courtney holds a comfortable lead over Austin Neely and Bobby Giffin.

Racing continues on Saturday, October 17 with the Southern All-Stars and American Crate All-Stars back in action along with the sportsman late models. The Southern All-Stars will be racing for $7,000 to win. American Crates racing for $3,000 to win, and sportsman late models racing for $1,500 to win. Champions in all three divisions will be crowned.

Billy Franklin leads the Southern All-Stars point standings over Mark Dodson. Trevor Sise and Tyler Arrington are locked in a tight battle in the American Crate points. Jed Emert has a sizable lead over Brandon Miller and Jake Whitehead in the sportsman late models.

It is also Back the Blue weekend. Any law enforcement officer from Blount or the surrounding counties will receive free admission as a way to say thanks to all those that serve. Free admission is good for both nights. Also, each officer will receive a $10 meal card courtesy of Hicks and Law Insurors located in Maryville, TN.

On Friday, October 16, pit gates open at 3:00. Grandstand and tier parking gates open at 4:00. The drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 6:00 with hot laps to follow at 6:30.

Friday’s grandstand ticket prices are $15 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Tier parking tickets are $20 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for adults, kids 11 and under are $15. Minors 18 and under must submit a Minor Release and Waiver of Liability form signed by parent/legal guardian. If form is not signed in the presence of a Smoky Mountain Speedway official, it must be notarized. Forms can be downloaded from the track's web site.

On Saturday, October 17, pit gates open at 2:00. Grandstand and tier parking gates open at 3:00. The drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 5:30 and hot laps will follow at 6:00.

Grandstand ticket prices are $25 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Tier parking tickets are $30 for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for adults, kids 11 and under are $15.

There will be no personal vehicles allowed to park inside the pit gates due to the number of racers expected for this event on both nights. Only select track personnel will be allowed to park in the pit area, no exceptions.

The deadline for media credential requests is Wednesday, October 14. No walk-up credentials will be issued. All credential requests will be made through the speedway and not through the series or any sponsors. Credentials will not be issued to individuals. Credentials must be made by a recognized media organization. Anyone that has covered a prior event this season must submit a new request as credentials do not carry over from event to event. Smoky Mountain Speedway is located 12 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee. From Maryville, take Highway 411 south for 10 miles and turn left onto Brick Mill Road. Follow Brick Mill Road for approximately 2 miles, the racetrack is on the right. The first entrance is for grandstand parking. The second entrance is for tier parking and campground access. The pit entrance is the next right on Crye Road.
