Default Complete beginner questions about front ends

What exactly is the blue, gray and orange front on a Rocket? Are they just different parts that bolt to the same place or are there modifications to the chassis? What goes better on what side? Thanks.

It doesn't work that way. Components match the chassis they were deigned for. Blue/Grey is interchangeable on same chassis different steering arm length , often spindles have both tie rod end mount locations, Orange front end car was not a viable design.

While i would agree that a b/g is a better over all car. The original design orange front did not run so well but the front mounting points are very similar and b/g aswell as xr1 components can be run on them. This was not the case with prior designs such as the black front cars. Orange cars came out in 2012 and were pretty much all in b/g stuff by mid 13 so today it's not likely that their are many out their runing true "orange" cars today. This all being said their not as bad as people like to make them sound. They were way more ridged than the b\g cars witch made traditional popular adjustments tend to not work and tuning difficult at times. Their are plenty of them out they're that are very competitive and in the used car market the fact that their more ridged makes them possibly be a better used candidate since we are talking about chassis that are on average 8+ years old at this point

So an Orange Front is on a chassis NOT compatible with Grey front?

No it is their are a few subtle differences in the original mainly with where the uppers bolted to the car. But they are basically identical in the frame side they originally had different spindals. The orange components were basically abandoned and it is common practice to bolt all b/g front suspension or xr front suspension onto "orange" chassis

    Here’s a quick cheat sheet

Black- A front end designed by Mark Bush for Rocket
Blue- A copy of Rayburn geometry
Blue/Gray- Still a copy of Rayburns front end, with updated Gray spindles
Orange- A copy of Bloomquist geometry
XR1- A copy of the Longhorn chassis and geometry

    Default Spindles

Can the blue spindles or rayburn spindles be used on a black front rocket - i would like to raise the front of the car for ground clearance - i saw a spindle where the spindle was about 1/2 inch lower on the upright,
