Tyler Stevens Races to Runner-Up Finish in the Cotton Bowl Cup
Louisiana Dirt Track State Championship at Boothill Up Next

Searcy, Arkansas (10/19/20) – Tyler Stevens continued his late-season surge over the weekend by piloting his Stallion Transportation Group No. 2 Level 1 Driving Academy/ W&W Timber / XR1 Rocket Chassis Late Model to a runner-up finish in the Cotton Bowl Cup.

Crate Late Model competition took Tyler Stevens to Clayhill Motorsports over the weekend, where he entered the annual Cotton Bowl Cup at the red clay oval. Starting at the back of his heat race on Friday night, Tyler advanced to a runner-up finish, which position him fourth on the starting grid for Saturday evening’s $3,000-to-win finale.

On a dry and challenging track, the Arkansan jumped to the second spot early in the feature and challenged leader, Christian Hanger, a few times in lapped traffic before ultimately settling for a runner-up finish at the checkered flag.

“We got our nose under Christian (Hanger) a few times in lapped traffic, but just couldn’t seal the deal. After our first five nights in the Late Model we have ran one weekly show and four specials. We have one win, two seconds, one third and one DNF. The transition to Late Models has been a big learning curve, but we are getting there,” Stevens shared. “Looking back on the change I’m so glad we made it. Racing is better, pay is better, way less tore up equipment, and just all around better in my opinion. I recommend to other drivers in the Modified division to give it a chance.

“As for our team, we’re preparing to go after our second Late Model win of the year this coming weekend in the Louisiana State Championship.”

TLP motorsports will trek south this coming weekend – October 23-24 – to Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana), where they’ll compete in the 48th annual Louisiana Dirt Track State Championship. Rescheduled from September, the event includes a $1,000 top prize for Crate Late Models on Friday night and a $2,000 winner’s check on the line on Saturday night.
