Mark, Mike's older brother, was on his way home from a Tyler Co. Speedway banquet and was tragically killed in an accident...this was probably nearly 40 years ago.

I seem to remember Mike initially racing some of Mark's equipment after Mark passed away.

Mike carried the #E1 as a tribute to his brother Mark who previously drove with #E1. http://www.dirtfans.com/images/Balza..._1981_DTWC.jpg

Depending on the year he died, it wasn’t Mike my Dad raced in the semi lates at Boro, it was Mark. But if I recall from the VHS, the E1 was orange. Maybe 82?
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

http://www.dirtfans.com/images/MarkBalzano_1976.jpg This is Mark's car from 1976. I just googled his name and the Dirtfans.com website appeared. The E1 car was from 1981. Those where the only two numbers they have pictures of.

Mark was in the 1981 DTWC B-Main with us. If I remember correctly???? We got tangled up with him in a multi car crash that put us both out.

Looks like WVMS has the Mark Balzano Memorial scheduled for July 4th next year. His name caught my attention as I skimmed across the various track schedules being posted in another thread.

Sad to hear the story behind his passing.
