Yep, stayed there and the Homewood Suites adjacent to it. Both nice places, little rich for me unless you find a deal. Neat interior and good breakfast.

Thanks bleedblue. We stayed at Motel 6 in Brandon last year, the price was good but motel was sketchy to say the least.

One year I went for the "DEAL". Stayed in Temple Terrace, sketchy wouldn't come close to describing that $hithole.

If you've never spent any time in that area of Florida we would suggest taking a ride across the Sunshine Skyway bridge which spans Tampa Bay between St. Pete and Bradenton. You'll have plenty of time during the daytime to look around and it's a cheap little trip and the Skyway is one hell of an impressive structure.

Also you might consider taking a short jaunt down to the Sarasota/Siesta Key area. There are many very good restaurants/bars with outdoor seating that have some cool views of the gulf and bays of the area.

You're gonna' love the racing at East Bay. More often than not the late models put on a superb show there. Don't forget to get a strawberry shortcake or two while you're there. Take plenty clothes to layer on. It can be mighty brisk after the sun goes down in the winter months. Have a great time. It's everything you've heard and probably more!!

I do like that bridge. I have been on it multiple times. It’s one of the biggest hills in Florida. Wind makes it cold at night. Yes sir. Strawberry shortcake. Big tradition. I had forgotten about that

I'll second the Hooters in Brandon they've got some quality talent. The Seminole hard rock casino isn't far either if you like to throw some money around. Eastbay is one of my favorite places from the weather, racing, track workers, etc. It's just a really cool track that can change more in one night than any dirt track I've ever seen.

You might want to see the Manatees at the power plant, when you exit the track, go south on hwy. 41, about 4/5 miles. Just look for the power plant smoke stack.

Also, Busch Gardens is near by.

Thanks. That’s something I enjoy in FL. I remember the first time I saw one.

Another place one might want to visit. Ybro City, nice restaurant, bars and gift shops. Only a few miles from the track.

Ybor City, pronounced E-boar City. More traditional Cuban, Spanish type restaurants like the Columbia and lots of sandwich shops.
