Default BIG USAC Event Coming The Weekend Following Labor Day

A big USAC National Midget & Spring Car show is scheduled for the weekend following the Labor Day Holiday in 2021. Hopefully most of the virus mitigations are in the past and the vaccine is doing it's thing and spectating at racing events is back to 100% capacity.

With the excitement and attention paid to The Chili Bowl, the announced this show at Huset's during Chili Bowl week, went a bit under the radar in Tulsa.

This three day triple header show at Huset's Speedway in South Dakota is looking to be a big deal for us dyed in the wool wingless dirt open wheel fans.

Looking forward to this show, for sure.

Probably the biggest announcement of the last few weeks, but slipped under the radar when they announced it on Wednesday of last week, and idk if anyone picked up on it on the TV broadcast.

slideiton, you're correct about the biggest announcement of the recent past. I guess it can work both ways, either you wait to announce 'till after the Chili Bowl is over or announce it during the Chili Bowl with the thinking that more people will hear it and see it if you throw it out there during one of the CB broadcasts.

We're happy and excited to see a big show like this come to fruition and we'll probably attend despite the fact that it's 8 hours one way for us. But, on the same token, those of us in Illinois can't so much as get a regular USAC National Midget or Sprint Car show which would benefit us as fans as well as the competitors given the shorter tow since most of the teams are located just across the border in Indiana. Luckily we have the only two 1 mile tracks in existence used for auto racing where we can see the Silver Crown cars. If not for those shows we'd be totally frozen out of the USAC stuff.

Illinois does have the Leffler Memorial at Wayne County, yes it's only show up points, but it is something. Nebraska went at least 6 years without a USAC show of any type.

You are absolutely correct, slideiton. I stand humbly corrected. Wayne County is some 4 hours one way for us and the Leffler Memorial is run during a period of the year that I'm usually unable to attend which kinda' makes it feel like it really isn't in Illinois.

I've attended a couple of USAC events at Fairbury, Nebraska back before they dropped the Belleville Midget Nationals at The High Banks. Fairbury isn't a bad little joint but since the midgets no longer race at Belleville, Kansas we don't make the trip out west for Fairbury.
