It was hard on the wheels, but most teams did not switch to steel; just couldn't run what they called the 'xl's at that time. Track will be very similar to Wythe (20 years ago everyone tested at Wythe before Bristol, shapes are a little different but the banking was close). Wythe has a class (Super Street?) that would be good for the Cup drivers. In fact one of the regulars from Wythe ran very well at the Eldora truck race one of the first times NASCAR was there.
