Ramirez Earns $10,000 in USMTS Opener at RPM Speedway
Humboldt’s King of America X Up Next

WOODWARD, Okla. (03/09/21) – Dereck Ramirez kicked off his 2021 season with a bang over the weekend, driving his Ramirez Motorsports No. 4r Koda Services/ Boom-Test Well Service/ Raw Truck Wash/ Hughes Racing Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engine Modified to a $10,000 payday.

“We had a fast car all weekend. It’s great to come out from a long off season and get a win right out of the box,” said Ramirez. Hopefully this is just the beginning of things to come this year. Thanks to my mom and dad, my crew, and all of our great sponsors for making this possible.”

Taking part in the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) opening weekend, Dereck Ramirez invaded RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas on Friday afternoon for the 11th Annual Texas Spring Nationals.

In a stout field of 71 cars, Dereck jumped up two spots in his eight-lap heat race to pick up the win. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in seventh, Ramirez clawed forward three spots in the 50-lapper to register a fourth-place finish, trailing Larry Phillips, Carlos Ahumada Jr., and Tyler Davis across the line. Jake O’Neil came in fifth.

The following night, Ramirez posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Casey Skyberg, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the A-Main. With polesitter Kale Westover setting the pace early, Dereck slipped ahead of Tyler Wolff on the seventh lap before the first caution of the race realigned the field.

After going back-and-forth for the lead with Larry Phillips, Ramirez shot past Phillips on lap 21 to secure the top spot. Silencing Rodney Sanders’ charge late in the 50-lap affair, Dereck Ramirez stormed to his first win of the season over Tyler Wolff, Rodney Sanders, Johnny Scott, and Kale Westover. He pocketed $10,000.

With the first weekend in the books, Dereck is currently leading the USMTS point standings. Complete results from these events are available at www.USMTS.com.

Delayed by one year due to the pandemic of 2020, King of America X powered by Summit is next up for Dereck Ramirez. Set for Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas - Friday night's winner will pocket $5,000 while Saturday's top prize is no less than $10,000.
