Sanders Wins American Racer USRA Modified Series Debut
Humboldt’s King of America X Up Next

HAPPY, Tex. (03/16/21) – After Mother Nature foiled his original plans, Rodney Sanders to his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified to Monarch Motor Speedway on Saturday.

The decision would pay off as he captured the win in the first-ever event for the newly formed American Racer USRA Modified Series.

“I always enjoy racing at Monarch Motor Speedway, and it was another good night for us there,” Sanders said. “It’s great to get another win. Thanks to everyone involved for their continued support. We’ll regroup and get ready for the King of America at Humboldt.”

On Thursday Rodney Sanders visited Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla. to pilot the Tommy Dove-owned No. 10 Modified for the third annual Southern Stampede.

With 53 IMCA Modifieds on hand, Sanders marched forward six spots in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Earning the seventh-starting position for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Rodney improved one position in the 30-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.

In a field of 43 cars on Friday, Rodney came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a third-place finish, transferring him into the B-Main. Scoring a runner-up finish behind Jared Baird, Sanders locked into the 15th-starting position for the A-Main. With $1,000 on the line, Sanders advanced forward nine spots in the 30-lap affair to finish sixth.

With Mother Nature wiping out the finale on Saturday, Sanders packed up and headed to Monarch Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas where he returned to the seat of his Kenny’s Tile No. 20 Modified entry.

Drawing 21 American Racer USRA Modified Series entries, Rodney recorded a fifth-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 13th on the starting grid for the main event.

The four-time USMTS National Champion broke into the top-10 on the third lap and climbed all the way to fourth place by the seventh lap. With sixteen laps complete Sanders had snuck by Kevin Rutehrford for second and just four laps later took control of the top spot from Max Eddie Thomas.
Sanders held on for the remaining five laps to earn his third win of the season over Thomas, Tyler Davis, Rutherford, and Chris Huckeba. He pocketed $2,500.
