Matt Henderson Wins in Thrilling Fashion at The Hornet’s Nest
Preps for American All Star Series Weekend

LOUDON, Tenn. (03/29/21) – After Mother Nature nixed his original plans, Tennessee racer Matt Henderson made the last-minute decision to hit the road on Saturday evening. His change in itinerary paid big dividends as he piloted his Stanco Equipment Co. No. 17 Vineyard Lawn / CVR Race Car / Hendren Racing Engine Late Model to the feature win at Talladega Short Track.

Not only did Henderson streak to his second win of the year, but he did so in thrilling fashion with a last-lap, last-corner pass for the lead.

“What a crazy day, but it all paid off. After Mountain View Raceway got canceled, we scoured the forecast, looking for any tracks within reasonable distance to us, and Talladega Short Track looked best. So, the crew scrambled to change tires over and make adjustment to the car to head south,” Henderson shared. “We finished second in the heat and made some tweaks to the car before the feature. We got to second early in the feature, but we really started making ground when I went to the top. I was able to make a last-lap pass coming to the checkered flag to get the win.

“It was a great night for our team, and I want to say a big thanks to everyone, who supports our program and makes it all possible.”

After Mother Nature wiped out his original plans, Matt Henderson traveled to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Saturday night, where he piloted the CVR Race Cars No. 17 house car in the track’s season opener.

In a field of 16 Late Models, Matt advanced one spot in his heat race to register a second-place finish behind T.J. Brittain. Rolling off fourth for the main event, Henderson shot into the second position in the early laps as he began his pursuit for race-leader T.J. Brittain. Tracking down Brittain late on the high-side, Matt succeeded on a last-lap pass to secure his second win of the season over Brittain, with Chase Walls, Joe Noojin, and Jake Traylor.
