Thread: Tire Prep

    Question Tire Prep

Is there a time/track condition when you should cold sipe rather than hot sipe or vise versa? Do you do vertical sipes on fronts only and horizontal/both on rears? (American racer tires on super late)

I don't know about privilege showing ,every cold sipe I've ever seen was not easy on the wallet compared to a standard heated grooving iron

I like the ones that use std razor blades. I haven't hot siped in years.

I'm no tire expert, but I sipe based on what I think will get the proper wear and heat. That includes depth and direction and density of cuts.

I never used a sipe, too. Any reviews on national tire and battery may be? This service center network is rather wide, they must be offering cheaper prices.

Speedway Motors has a bit on tire siping and grooving on their tech website. It's informative for rookies to the process and you might want to check it out.

Do you guys feel like needling is just as important as sipes and grooves?

I'm no tire guy, but I've honestly never done it and don't think I really need to. That could be because I'm too dumb to know better, who knows?

...Needling helps a bunch if your surface soaking tires, but has other benefits
