Garrett Alberson Races to Podium Finish in Slocum 50 Finale
Builds Momentum Through Five-Race Swing

Las Cruces, N.M. (04/21/21) – Garrett Alberson enjoyed a productive stretch of racing last week in the Ken & Beth Roberts-owned No. 59 Nutrien Ag Solutions/ Roemer Machine & Welding/ Black Diamond Chassis Super Late Model.

Five races in five nights with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) culminated with the New Mexico native registering a podium finish in Saturday night’s $10,555-to-win finale at 34 Raceway.

“We gained speed throughout the week, and then Saturday night at 34 Raceway we started on the pole. In the feature, we missed it just by a little bit. Just a little bit too tight to circle that bottom real nice,” Alberson said. “I wanted to get a little bit more. I wanted to try somewhere else on the track, but I knew we needed a good run to start the year. Hopefully we can keep what we had Saturday going in our upcoming events. That’s the best that both me and the car have been so far this year.”

Garrett Alberson began his pursuit for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) championship on Tuesday evening at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) in the Tuesday Tickler. With 34 Late Models entered, Garrett edged his way into the A-Main with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 15th, Alberson clawed forward four spots in the 35-lapper to place 11th.

The following night at Stuart Speedway (Stuart, Iowa), Alberson topped the 31-car field in time trials before finishing second in his heat race behind Jake Timm. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Garrett initially crossed the line in third, but after the leader was disqualified, he was elevated to a runner-up finish. He trailed Jesse Stovall to the checkers with Frank Heckenast Jr., Chris Simpson, and Jake Timm rounding out the Top-5.

On Wednesday evening at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) on the quarter-mile oval, Garrett followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Pinned near the tail for the feature, Alberson passed 10 cars in the 40-lapper to finish 12th.

For the opening night of the Slocum 50 on Friday at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa), Alberson edged his way into the show with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Garrett gained 13 spots to register a ninth-place outing.

To wrap up the action-packed weekend on Saturday, Garrett laid down the third-fastest time in his group before streaking to a 10-lap heat race victory. Locked into the pole for the $10,555-to-win Slocum 50, Alberson fought off an ill-handling car to finish third, following Jason Papich and Tony Jackson Jr. across the line. Billy Moyer and Chris Simpson completed the Top-5 finishers.

With the first week in the books, Garrett is currently fourth in the latest Lucas Oil MLRA point standings. Full results from these events are available at www.MLRARacing.com.
