Dennis Erb, Jr. Scores $10,000 for Rugged Circle City Win; Double Dreams Ahead this Week!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team finally broke through in 2021 to capture their first win of the racing season in their maiden trip to the new Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana! The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series sanctioned the shootout on Friday night, June 4 in the Hoosier State and 33 competitors showed up to do battle at the newly-constructed facility.

After timing in fourth fastest in Group B during the qualifying session, Dennis Erb, Jr. picked up a heat race triumph and later drew the outside of the front row for the start of the 40-lap headliner. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace then paced the stellar field for the first 25 circuits around the rugged racetrack before having to regain the point from Ryan Gustin on the 32nd lap. He went on to bag the $10,000 payday in Indy over a top five that consisted of runner-up Brandon Sheppard, Gustin, Max Blair, and Frank Heckenast, Jr.!

“It was definitely a rough racetrack and I really had to work for that win,” commented Erb, Jr. following the weekend. “I have to thank Heather (Lyne) for making sure everything was tight on the car at Circle City. I’m sure some stuff loosened up during the course of the race, but everything held together and we got the victory. Hopefully, we can get on a little roll here with lots of racing coming up this summer!”

Following the victory, the WOOLMS tour then took the #28 team to Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana on Saturday evening, June 5. Making his first-ever laps around the Plymouth oval, Dennis laid down the sixteenth fastest lap overall during qualifying before placing fifth in his stacked heat race. He then picked off four competitors during the $10,000 to win feature to land in the ninth finishing position after forty green flag circuits. Dennis now finds himself seventh in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings exiting the Hoosier State double-dip. Next up for Dennis Erb Racing will be an action-packed week at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 9-12. With COVID-19 restrictions forcing the 1/2-mile oval to scrap last year’s annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ the Buckeye State facility returns this year with double ‘Dirt Late Model Dreams.’ A pair of Twin 25 preliminary features – each boasting a $10,000 top prize – will take place later tonight with points accrued going towards Thursday’s 27th Annual ‘Dream’ that will headlined by a 100-lap main event shelling out a whopping $127,000 to the winner.

Then on Friday night at the “Big E,” two more $10,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary features will be held to help set the stage for Saturday’s finale. The 26th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ will be held on Saturday evening with a $126,000 paycheck earmarked for the victor of the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza. In all, a total purse of over $792,000 has been posted for the lucrative week. Dennis has four Top Five finishes to his credit in this storied event including his $100,000 triumph back in 2016.
