Lawrenceburg, IN – Weekly racing returns to the Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday night August 7th with “Family Night at the Races.” All children 12 and under will receive free general admission at the main front gate entrance.

After an eight-week hiatus the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints, Impact Sports Pure Stocks, and the Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets will do battle on the 3/8ths mile high banks at the Burg along with the KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds.

Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints

Defending track champion Nick Bilbee leads the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint standings over three-time track champion Joss Moffatt, 2009 Rookie of the Year JJ Hughes, 2018 track champion Garrett Abrams and Sterling Cling.

Bilbee assumed the point lead with his feature win on opening night and has been consistently quick with three seconds, a fourth, and a ninth-place finish in six races this season. His win, the tenth of his career at Lawrenceburg, moves him into fourth place behind all-time Burg sprint winner Justin Grant, who visited Signarama victory lane for the thirteenth time on May 15th.

First-time sprint winners this season at the Burg have been Max Adams (May 1st King of the Midwest Sprints), Ricky Lewis (May 8th), Logan Seavey (June 5th Midget Week), and Saban Bibent (June 12th).

Saturday’s race will be the final opportunity for the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints to get track time before the $3,000 to win/$300 to start 18th Annual D ick Gaines Memorial on August 21st.

KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds

Two-time and defending track champion David Spille leads the KOI Auto Parts UMP Modified standings over three-time track champion Scotty Kincaid, 2018 track champion Kyle Schornick, rookie Zack Bolton and Bobby Burleson.

Spille is a perennial front runner at the Burg with twenty top-five finishes in the last twenty-four races going back to the 2019 season. Spille’s feature win on April 17th vaulted him to the top of the standings where he has stayed for sixteen weeks.

In ten races this season Kyle Schornick has been the only repeat modified winner. Schornick’s four wins in six attempts gives him eighteen career wins at Lawrenceburg, third all-time behind Joey Kramer (46) and Matt Hamilton (34).

Additional feature winners this season have been Pete Holt (May 15th), Brandon Green (May 31st), Victor Lee (June 12th), Ricky Arms (July 3rd Merrill Downey Memorial), and Matt Hamilton (July 25th Sprint Week).

Impact Sports Pure Stocks

2009 Lawrenceburg Speedway track champion Will McRoberts leads the Impact Sports Pure Stock standings after a near-perfect season over defending track champion Joel Andrews, John Heaston, Danny Eichler, and 2019 Rookie of the Year Will McDonough.

In five events McRoberts has four feature wins, a second-place feature finish, four heat race wins, and a third-place heat finish. Joel Andrews finally broke McRoberts stranglehold on victory lane with his feature win on June 12th.

Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets

Seventeen-year-old Landen Ramirez holds a slim 25-point lead over his father, Jesse, in the Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornet standings. 2019 track champion Gary Whitt is currently third followed by Billey Moore and Michelle Baird.

The younger Ramirez has had an extremely consistent season with six top-five finishes in six races. Although he hasn’t scored his first win, Landen, the 2020 Rookie of the Year, has been knocking on the door with a second, two thirds, a fourth, and two fifth-place feature finishes.

Gary Hume has been the only hornet driver to visit victory lane multiple times (April 17th and May 8th). Jesse Ramirez (April 3rd), Michelle Baird (May 1st), three-time and defending track champion Cordell Moore (May 15th), and Gary Whitt (June 12th) have also won features.

Saturday nights race is one of only two races remaining to meet eligibility to compete in the 4th Annual Hornet Nationals paying $1,500 to win/$200 to start. To be eligible to compete in this event on August 28th the car must have competed in two points races at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in 2021. Saturday night and August 21st are the only opportunities to qualify for this event if you have not already raced twice at the Burg.
