When they scream, "Throw a blanket over them" it is annoying to me.

When they scream anything it annoys me. I might be slightly hard of hearing but I'm not freaking deaf yet.

Another thing that annoys me is the amount of silence when race cars aren't on the track but yet they never seem to have time to give you a lineup UNTIL the cars hit the track.

This is a good post. I have listened to the best in over 51 years in both drag racing like Steve Evans, Dave McCleland, Bernie Partridge and Bob Frey, the oval side with Ted Otto, Joe Volkhomer, Johnny Gibson, Eschelmen, Essex, Shelton and the oral beauty of Perry Holman, and have
learned a lot and still learning.

Have heard the babblers, screamers, screachers, and the yellers, and their is a difference . I try to not be annoying, have diarrhea of the mouth and be decent. It still ain't easy to not foul up and be annoying. Announcing is not easy. You will have folks that think you suck, or fairly decent.

A couple of things that get me is when announcers say the leader is coming up on "LAPPED TRAFFIC" when nobody has yet to go a lap down. Or when there are 2 cars racing and they say it is two wide, it is side-by-side, when there are 3 cars racing then it is 3-wide.

It is a difficult deal calling a race in the tower with a bevy of distractions, I have had fans come up and ask me to do a birthday wish and such while calling qualifying.

But I do love it all.

I despise the way announcers have taken to calling the racetrack the "racing surface." Some do it incessantly.

I’m not gonna bag on the bad ones, but Mike Norris, Michael Despain, Dustin Jarrett, and the guy who announces for Cedar Lake are pretty good.

Most the time I’m just happy I can watch a dirt race from my house. All I ask for is good video feed.

They get paid every time he says” Dixie chopper feel the thunder”…….not sure why that’s so hard for folks to understand…….that’s what they pay them to say.

No different than the “ boogers septic cleaning hobby stock division” announcements they make.

    BBQ..

Yep they have to take care of sponsors. My only complaint with that is they manage to put that huge logo right over the cars taking the green flag.

I’ve only ever heard the expression character used for tracks rougher than the Baja 1000.

It’s paid for too…..I don’t mind it for the first lap….dilner gets a lot of crap on occasion but I like him, even with the faux paux moments…..we all have them.

I can’t stand the term” gaggle of cars”
