The Baltes Classic will probably have more cars for $5000 to win which is sad

That's a good thing, Logan doesn't venture this way much except for the Hillbilly.

It had 34 cars in 2019. I'd assume the count this year will be similar.

I think it'll be around that 35 mark. Still waiting to see about Carpenters, Dohms, and a few more locals. Zeigler, Overton, Satterlee and Fergy are also potential cars. We'll see what happens...

So did a lot of other shows. These days, there are less cars to go around and the few that are left are fighting over 4 spots the Lucas guys won't take.

It used to be like trying to make the world 100 for all those cars in the MOV. Now, they don't bother.

I think it's been quite a number of years since they broke 50 at this event. I don't think i77 ever did, Tyler has not since they took it back.

Yep, late 2000's Tyler County drew mid 80's for car count. There's not as many supers in the area as there once was, and to be completely honest when the car count was big, about 1/3 or more of them didn't belong there. I do miss those days though of walking through the pits and seeing 80 cars.

Yeah, a lot of the cars from the hillbilly 50, the day before, stayed. Quite a few of them were competitive, but a lot of them were not.

2005-2009 will always be the golden years when talking about the Hillbilly 100 IMO.

Yep, was always awesome to see a WV local win a heat or run up front in the 100 lapper. Mike Benedum, Tim Dohm, Ricky Williams, Steve Shaver, Doug Horton, and Paul Wilmouth all had good top 5 runs in that time frame I think. And ECJ won the thing of course

That would been time frame was thinking of. Of course we was always at Eldora cause they'd get 50+ cars for tuneup before

Wonder which year it became a Lucas Oil event. Being sanctioned is a guarantee that certain drivers will be there but also a detriment for many regional guys who have to buy tires for one event that they run nowhere else.

Found the answer, 2007 appears to be the first Hillbilly that was Lucas sanctioned.
