Tanner English Set to Invade Michigan to Wrap Up 2021 Summer Nationals Tour

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) After a couple of weeks off from racing action and only days removed from becoming a father to a beautiful daughter - Banks Wilder English, Tanner English returned to the DIRTcar Summer Nationals grind last Friday, August 13 at Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois. Tanner laid down the fourth fastest lap overall during the qualifying session prior to running second in his heat race. On a choppy racing surface during the $10,000 to win headliner, Tanner moved up one spot during the 50-lap contest to land on the podium in the third position behind only race winner Brandon Sheppard and runner-up Bobby Pierce!

Another $10,000 winner’s check was then up for grabs for Riggs Motorsports on Saturday, August 14 at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. Before the "Hell Tour" event even started, a downed power line in the pits struck Tanner’s #81e machine, but fortunately no one was injured. After a local power company made repairs to the live wire and competition got underway, Tanner timed in second quickest in Group A during qualifying and once again placed second in his heat race. The Benton, Kentucky hotshoe then started the 40-lapper from the inside of the fourth row and eventually finished right where he started... in the seventh position. “It’s been quite the whirlwind here lately with everything that has went on,” quoted English this week via telephone during a little downtime. “From the birth of my daughter to my Dad being formally inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame to finally finishing off this Summer Nationals deal – it’s been busy. Then throw the downed power line into the equation on Saturday and we’re really blessed because that could have been a much worse situation. Hopefully, we can have a strong week up in Michigan and close out the Hell Tour with a win or two!”

The grueling DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour, which began back on June 15 at Brownstown (IN) Speedway, is finally coming to a close with four more series races this week in the Wolverine State of Michigan. Tanner, who currently sits second in the latest version of the “Hell Tour” point standings will compete for a $5,000 top prize later tonight, August 18 at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan. Another $5,000 payday will then be on the line on Thursday, August 19 at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.

From there, the Riggs Motorsports team will close out the miniseries with a pair of $10,000 to win clashes over the weekend. The Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan will greet the DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the penultimate event on Friday evening, while Saturday’s series finale will be held at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan.
